For this reason, we recommend that if you are serious about skateboarding, spend at least $100 on your new complete build.

The components are going to be pretty terrible, but what you get will resemble a skateboard and it'll be good enough to get started.
• The Best Affordable Skateboards - These are going to be the mid-level cheap skateboards ranging in the $50 - $80 range. There are actually good skateboards here, but they will make some component compromises to get the price down lower.
• Actually Really Good Beginner Skateboards - These are going to be great skateboards ranging in the $100 - $180 range. They will come with high quality components and be a professional level setup.

Cheap skateboards are a good option for beginners because they allow them to learn the basics of skateboarding without spending a lot of money. Once a beginner has learned the basics, they can then decide if they want to invest in a more expensive skateboard.

I want to reiterate that none of these skateboards are objectively good. The components are very cheap and basically everything is made in China. That being said, they do provide a cheap taste of the world of skateboarding and that we can recommend.

Now we are getting into the range of stuff that is actually pretty decent. The boards in this category are going to be less than $100, but still be good enough quality to keep for a while or easily upgrade 1-2 components to have a pro level board.

These are some quality shred sleds that we can get behind. Boards in this category are going to cost you some hard earned cash, but we tried to give the best price/quality we could find readily on the internet.

So what is it about these three completes that make them actually really good?

• Deck - Made from maple or maple + fiberglass. This is hands down and away the best construction for trick skateboards.
• Trucks - Really good strong casting with clean fit and finishes. Good quality bushings and washers that hold up over time.
• Wheels - High quality urethane is key to a good riding skateboard. This is the material that interfaces with the ground, so it better rebound for a smooth ride, but also hold its shape well.
• Bearings - The most precise part of the skateboard and often a place companies cheap out, the bearings on these completes are very well made and have a quality lubricant pre-applied for longevity.
